Today we spent not clearing up after Christmas, but instead slumping sluglike in front of something less than 50% of our animé mountain. Fruits Basket is slightly more comprehensible than the manga original. Curiously, whereas the subtitles for the first and last discs preserve the Japanese names (the protagonist is Honda Tohru and addresses Sohru Yuki as Sohru-kun, and so on), the second disc uses Anglicized names (Tohru Honda addresses Yuki Sohru as Yuki). I quite like using the Japanese style, but they could have tried to be more consistent—!
