They’re doing a storyline in The Archers about a hotelier trying to suppress reports of a footballer making a homophobic assault on her staff. Meanwhile, in the real world we have discovered this week that (a) suppressing photos gets them plastered all over the internet, and (b) homophobia is a career-limiting move these days, even for Daily Mail journalists.
Ian and Adam arguing about Ian’s not wanting to make a fuss sounded like Eastenders from 1989. Ian could have said he didn’t want to report the incident because it might well finish the career of the idiot who popped him. Adam could retort that having to get a proper job would be no worse punishment than he deserves, or perhaps, cynically, that the public’s distaste for homophobia only applies when it is directed at celebrities. Anything other than ‘Ooo, I don’t want to make a fuss’.
