Ian Cugley, 1945–2010

On Thursday morning, I received the news my father died of a heart attack. I know few of my friends had actually met him—he was too ill to travel for the last few years—but he was a nice guy with a whimsical good humour that you might have enjoyed meeting.

Professionally he was a composer and a teacher. For a while he made his living as a watercolour painter. There is a biographical sketch on Wikipedia based largely on his official web site. I have not been able to find any recordings of his musical works online, though some of his scores are available from the National Library of Australia in Canberra.

Edited it add Thanks for the condolences.
Very sorry to hear this, Damian
Even if it was known that this was due to happen at some point, it's still horrible when it happens. Am thinking of you.
Sorry for your loss. Thank you for telling us a little about him. Thinking of you.
Sorry to hear
I am sorry to hear of the passing of my name sake Ian Cugley. Though I never met him, I think somehow as we are related both in blood and name, I have some affinity with him and his demons.
